Nigel Brophy has been training & teaching in the martial arts for more than 47 years. He has trained in 7 different disciplines, time studying each from 2 – 33 years. Nigel started training in Judo when he was 9, and continued training in various martial arts throughout his time in H.M. Forces (Army). When he left the army he pursued an early career as a Gym Instructor, gaining his first qualification in 1988.
In 1989 whilst he was taking a few months break from traditional martial arts training, a friend told him about a new martial arts class that was based on science. Nigel went along and was surprised to hear correct instruction about yoga, biomechanics, kinetics and other scientific fields that he was familiar with from his training as a gym instructor.
Nigel started training in Choi Kwang Do and after a year was selected as an Assistant Instructor; 33 years on, Nigel is a 6thDegree Black Belt, International Master Instructor / Examiner. He has taught and trained in Argentina, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the USA.
